Many fungi may resemble the appearance of a plant, but they are not the same. Fungi absorb nutrients from the soil, but most fungi feed on dead plants. And sometimes fungi feed on living things like nematodes. When the nematode swarms into the constricting ring, the fungi crushes the nematode and takes its nutrients at the same time. Fungi can be deadly.
Most fungi appear a mushroom. A mushroom is called the fruiting body. Scientists call the mushroom the fruiting body, because it helps the fungi to reproduce by dropping its seeds. And after the mushroom drop its seeds it dies. Some of you may think you are getting rid of the fungus when you stomp the mushroom, but really your just helping the fungi spread. Although that little part of fungi you may seen as a mushroom, you haven't seen all of it yet. The biggest part of the fungus is under ground, and is spreading rapidly. Fungus reproduces sexually and asexually. When they reproduce sexually, when they use a mushroom, the seeds inside the mushroom drops out. When the fungi reproduce asexually, it tends to branch off from itself.
Fungi Kingdom is different from animals, because the animals have the wait a couple of months to reproduce. And most animals feed on other animals or plant. But fungi are more like plants. They have seeds like plants and come from out the ground. Also, they both need nutrients to grow.

At Big Lake, wildlife refuge, fungus appears most. In the tree trunks fungus is between many parts of the bark. Some fungi can be the color green.
Unlike in the photograph that appears, this fungus is different. This fungus is called the Turkey Tail. The Turkey Tail is a type of fungi that is fan-shaped with overlapping bands of white, brown, blue, and black. Underside of cap is sponge-like. It is found in deciduous and coniferous forests. It reproduces asexual and sexual.
In the science world, the Turkey Tail is called Trametes versicolor.
The taxonomy is:
Domain: Eurkayota
Kingdom: Fungi
Phylum: Basidiomycota
Class: Basidiomycetes
Order: Polyporales
Family: Polyporaceae
Genus: Trametes
Species: T. versicolor

During the wildlife refuge, we discovered a fungus called Common Morel. In the science world it is called Morchella esulenta. The Common Morel is an elongate, honeycombed fungus. Also, it is white and has a basal bulb. You can find this type of fungus in a deciduous woods or grassy and wet areas.
